iVolt energy optimisation system provides solution for Tesco’s sustainability dilemma

In 2014, Tesco faced a significant challenge of reducing energy consumption and costs in their UK stores while ensuring they maintained the same level of service quality for their customers. The challenge was especially daunting because Tesco is one of the world’s largest retailers, with a vast network of stores and a large energy consumption rate. The company needed an innovative solution that would address the problem without compromising their service quality, and they found it in iVolt’s energy optimisation system which was installed at a selected number of sites.

iVolt’s dynamic technology is designed to optimise the electrical supply in real-time, allowing for a decrease in energy consumption and increased efficiency. The system works by constantly monitoring the incoming voltage supply and adjusting it to the most efficient level to maintain a constant 220V output. iVolt’s smart thyristor technology ensures a smooth transition between voltage levels, delivering a more precise output than traditional voltage management systems that reduce the voltage by a pre-set percentage which cannot extract the most savings. Furthermore, the system
operates at an unnoticeable speed, meaning it doesn’t interfere with Tesco’s day-to-day
operations.
